Systems Engineer
Location: Tweed Heads NSW, or Lismore NSW
Full-time, permanent position, commencing as soon as possible

Position Purpose:
The Systems engineer role is strategically oriented. They provide assessment on the technology requirements of the DLCSL and work on projects that involve the selection and integration of new technologies to improve efficiency and meet business objectives.
As Systems Engineer this role supports the underlying Mission of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Lismore by delivering services that contribute to enabling students to achieve the fullness of life.
Work Requirements:
- A current/valid Australian Driver’s Licence and eligibility to work within Australia for the period of the appointment
- Compliance with Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead as prescribed by the Bishops of NSW, or working towards accreditation at the appropriate level upon commencement.
- A cleared National Police Check, or ability to obtain if the successful candidate
- Requirement to travel between locations (as required).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related experience
- Relevant industry certifications and experience, with proven knowledge of server and network environments.
Work Experience:
- Five or more years of solid background experience in networking.
Key Capabilities:
- Proven ability in the design, installation, configuration, and support of enterprise WAN, data centre, and cloud infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Proficiency in implementing, configuring and maintaining enterprise networking infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, VPN technologies, intrusion detection systems, and Aruba SD-Branch gateways, Aruba Central, and Aruba CX switching platforms.
- Experience in managing Linux and Microsoft server platforms across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Ability to develop script to automate tasks (e.g. in Shell, PHP, Python or Perl).
- High level of experience in managing and maintaining enterprise virtualised server platforms and large-scale cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS).
- Understanding of data protection regulations, cybersecurity frameworks, and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001 or NIST).
- Provide senior technical support during project implementation and guide technical staff through deployment and transition stages.
- Ability to work with pre-sales engineers and technical stakeholders to develop Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and document emerging technologies and solutions.
- Methodical and disciplined approach to technical analysis and problem solving.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills to communicate with various stakeholders and work in an effective team.
