Newman Senior Technical College, Port Macquarie

Newman Senior Technical College is one of the largest senior secondary Colleges on the NSW North Coast with one of the highest VET course enrolments in NSW.  The College is a specialist facility providing students with opportunities to achieve their HSC and national qualifications.

We invite suitably qualified teachers to apply for the following Leadership position.

Leader of Pastoral Care + teaching load

The person appointed will have a permanent teaching position in the school and will involve a teaching load.

 Co2 point “Leaders of” positions are offered a contract within a set 3-year cycle as co-ordinator. The current 3 year cycle is 2025 - 2027

All co-ordinator positions are advertised every 3 years within the school and incumbents are eligible for reappointment.

Applicants must: 

  • have a current NSW Working with Children Check
  • full accreditation with NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA)
  • compliance with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead Policy upon appointment 

Teacher Accreditation: 

Teachers who are appointed to a leadership position, whether new to the position or applying to be re-appointed, should have begun, or will begin to make a commitment to the requirements of the diocese Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead document, Category C (Category E for positions of Catechesis and School Evangelisation), during this next triennium cycle.

To be eligible to apply for a (Co2) position a teacher would normally be a fulltime permanent teacher classified Step 2 Proficient on the Teachers Standards Classification.

Each teacher in a leadership position (Co2) will participate in an ongoing performance review in accordance with the Diocesan Policy & Procedures for Performance Review of Coordinators.

Successful applicants in this position would need to meet the following criteria:

  • Experience and willingness to authentically lead Catholic Mission
  • Capacity and skills to lead others to enable success for all students
  • Ability to lead learning and change for improved student outcomes
  • Provide evidence of qualifications in a specialised faculty
  • Be able to work as a member of a committed team of professional teachers, dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning in partnership with the parent community
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to lead and develop teamwork and individuals within a team
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead staff within the school or professional learning team that is informed by feedback, analysis of current research and practice to improve well-being and educational outcomes for students
  • Be able to lead colleagues to evaluate and develop pastoral care and well-being programs based on current research and data
  • Support and lead the College 3 Year School Improvement Plan and the School Annual Improvement Plan

Your application should address the above criteria including the nomination of two (2) referees including a Parish Priest, Priest or Minister.
