Pastoral Care Officer

This position will be located in Tweed Heads

Full time, permanent position. Commencing as soon as possible.

Work Requirements:

  • hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain
  • a current/valid Australian Driver’s License and eligibility to work within Australia for the period of the appointment
  • requirement to travel between locations.

Qualifications:

  • Qualifications to teach
  • Relevant Postgraduate qualifications desirable.

Work Experience: 

  • At least five years’ experience in a school wellbeing role with demonstrated capacity to support student learning and wellbeing outcomes across a whole school
  • At least eight years’ experience in a teaching role
  • Experience in a leadership or middle leadership role in a school
  • Detailed knowledge of contemporary issues and approaches relating to Learning and Wellbeing.

Key Capabilities: 

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise, negotiate, advocate, and resolve conflicts
  • Demonstrated experience in using school data to review and renew systems within a school in response to changing needs and contexts
  • Experience in providing support to school communities during and post critical incidents
  • Demonstrated experience in identifying strategies that lead to increased student engagement and enhanced wellbeing
  • Ability to support school leadership teams to identify and develop educational, social and emotional initiatives to support children and young people who are vulnerable or at risk
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills with the capacity to work effectively both independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary Pastoral Care team
  • Ability to design and facilitate high-quality professional learning to support ongoing skill and knowledge development of staff and that aligns to system priorities.

  • Knowledge of WHS and equity principles in the workplace
  • Respect and uphold the ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of the Employer.
