St James Primary School is seeking an enthusiastic Trainee in Business Administration for a 12-month role [2026 School Academic year]. This role offers comprehensive on-the-job training in all aspects of a busy school office, including reception support, records management, and general administrative duties. The ideal candidate has a strong desire to learn, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and student safety. This traineeship offers a pathway to work as an Administrative Assistant position.

 

Trainee - Business Administration

Full time temporary position starting January 2026

 

We are inviting applications from current Year 12 school leavers, recent school leavers, or mature age adults looking for a Traineeship opportunity.

The successful candidates will study a Certificate III in Business while supporting School Administration at St James Primary School. Candidates will have paid study time each week to assist with the completion of study/course requirements.

Applicants will be required to: 

  • be an active and visible member of the Catholic Church community
  • commit to the Catholic Community’s ethics, values and standards
  • be self-motivated, organised, creative, trustworthy, committed and able to motivate youth
  • have excellent communication skills, and personal initiative
  • be able to recognise and maintain confidentiality
  • have a strong work ethic and the motivation to complete a 12-month traineeship, along with the ability to pass relevant study requirements
  • ability to use a range of Google and Microsoft Office products (or willingness to learn);
  • ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences (a customer service background is desirable)
