Systems Engineer
This position can be located at Tweed Heads, or Lismore
Full-time, permanent position. Commencing 20 January 2025.

Position Purpose:
The Systems engineer role is strategically oriented. They provide assessment on the technology requirements of the DLCSL and work on projects that involve the selection and integration of new technologies to improve efficiency and meet business objectives.
As Systems Engineer this role supports the underlying Mission of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Lismore by delivering services that contribute to enabling students to achieve the fullness of life.
Work Requirements:
- A current/valid Australian Driver’s Licence and eligibility to work within Australia for the period of the appointment
- A National Police Check, or ability to obtain if the successful candidate
- Requirement to travel between locations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related experience
- Relevant industry certifications and experience, with proven knowledge of server and network environments.
Work Experience:
- Five or more years of solid background experience in networking.
Key Capabilities:
- Proven ability in the design, installation, configuration, and support of WAN, Data Centre and Cloud systems.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, switching, VLANs, and subnetting.
- Proficiency in implementing, configuring and maintaining networking devices (i.e. Routers, switches and firewalls), security protocols, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
- Experience in managing Linux and Microsoft network technologies and server systems.
- Ability to script to automate tasks (e.g. in Shell, PHP, Python or Perl).
- High level of experience in managing and maintaining large scale VMWare platforms.
- Understanding of data protection regulations and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001 or NIST).
- Provide senior technical support during projects’ implementation and provide guidance to staff during the deployment stage of any projects.
- Ability to work with pre-sales engineers to develop Proof of Concepts and document future products.
- Methodical and disciplined approach to problem solving.
- Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills to communicate with various stakeholders and work in an effective team.
