The Diocese of Lismore stretches along the coastal strip of New South Wales from Tweed Heads in the north to Laurieton in the south and west to Dorrigo on the Great Dividing Range. Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lismore are governed by the Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools Limited (DLCSL).

Catholic schools have been part of the Diocese of Lismore since the nineteenth century and play a significant role in the life of parishes, being part of the evangelising mission of the Church. Under the pastoral leadership of the Bishop of Lismore, Catholic schools provide faith-filled, inclusive and caring environments that allow young people to grow in their faith and better understand the Mission of Jesus Christ in learning and living well. The DLCS provides a range of services to support approximately 2,500 staff in 45 vibrant and dynamic Catholic school communities that serve more than 18,000 students.

The Diocese of Lismore Catholic Schools Limited is undergoing a period of educational transformation. A corporate structure for administration of our schools was introduced in 2020, transforming education delivery in the Diocese from Parish administration to an education system under a corporate administration. An applicant for appointment as Chief Executive Officer/Director of Catholic Schools should be able to demonstrate experience in transformational change within a corporate environment whilst demonstrating knowledge of the management needs of an educational organisation within the Ministry of the Diocese of Lismore.

About Your Opportunity 

The Chief Executive Officer/Director will provide strategic and administrative support to the Board and its members, and professional advice to inform decision making and ensure implementation of Board decisions. In serving the interests of the Diocese of Lismore you will display and promote leadership that will positively influence system wide operational performance by providing direction, data and school performance strategy for Catholic education.

Overall this role is key to providing evidence-based, system-wide insights and project management expertise ensuring cultural alignment and effective service delivery to promote the educational mission of the Church. The role will be accountable to and report formally to DLCS, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility to parishes and their school communities, fellow staff members and ultimately to the Church for what is undertaken, how it is undertaken and what is accomplished.

About You

The scale, scope and challenges presented by this role provide an opportunity for a proven faith-based leader and education specialist to take ownership of the delivery of key services and initiatives to enhance the education outcomes of the parish community. Your demonstrated ability to lead disperse teams, partner across a large stakeholder network, and deliver effective management, frameworks and systems will be key to achieving success in this role.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to bring a sound knowledge and understanding of Catholic education in Australia and proven ability to implement the Mission of the Church for Catholic Education.
